TV SHOW UPDATE

As some of you know, I have been working on getting a Square Dance TV show started on the Public Access TV Channel 10 (in Corpus).  It looks like it is finally going to happen this next Tuesday at 8:30 - 9:30 PM.  Here is how it all came about.  I receive news letters from the Callerlab Website and one of these told of the success, at recruiting new members, of Square Dancers in the Upper Midwest who started running an hour long show on their Public Access channel.  After about three (3) months they began to get results.  I decided to look into the possibility of us doing the same in the Coastal Bend.

I contacted the folks up there and got all the information I could from them and also ordered two (2) tapes from them.  In addition to running the tapes on over 200 stations they sell them to folks like us.  The cost of the two tapes was a total of $15.00 (including shipping).  The tapes arrived promptly and I immediately gave them to the Officers of the Corpus Christi/Rockport clubs to watch and give me their opinions.  They did and their opinion was that it was a good idea.

I contacted Jack Gorde of the Public Access User's Group (PAUG) who runs the scheduling for Time Warner Cables (TWC) and was able to get all the requirements that they and the City of Corpus Christi have set.  I also established membership in PAUG for myself (a requirement) at a cost of $10.00.  The two tapes needed to be altered to meet the requirements so I contacted a firm locally to do the alterations and they are in the process of doing this.  The cost for the alteration of the initial two tapes is $35.00 per tape (thereafter $25.00 per tape) and they will have them done by noon July 28th (tomorrow).  I will pick them up and deliver them to PAUG tomorrow, July 28 for the next two weeks of viewing.  Today I ordered two more tapes in the series of 39 tapes and they should ship this week so that gives us 4 weeks to start producing our own tapes.

NOW

WHAT COMES NEXT

The Callers (Lee McCormack & James Laurel) have agreed to do the calling for us,  Jodi Jackson (Ocean Waves) is an experienced Director and has agreed to be our Director for the shows.  WHAT WE DON'T HAVE is a Camera Person who has a VCR camera and knows how to use it.  WE NEED someone to volunteer to do this for us.  WE NEED a place to do it.  WE NEED Square Dancers (5 or more Squares) to dance with us.  After we get all the volunteers needed TO GO INTO PRODUCTION, WE HAVE TO GET ORGANIZED.
